Last friday there was a small eruption in Holuhraun, near Bárðarbunga. This eruption took place outside the glacier Vatnajökull, which means that it was not a subglacial eruption. The volcano alert has been raised to red, but a couple of hours later it was on orange.
Then, on Sunday, there was another eruption. Again, the volcano alert has temporarily been raised to red.
Since Sunday, lava has slowly been flowing northward. Until now, no ash has been detected, that means that there is no immediate danger for international flights from and to Iceland.
